River Crossing Dangers this Summer

With the late snow melt and raging rivers this summer, make sure to have alternate routes ready for trips in the high country in the western states. Check out the Sierra magazine original Survive article on river crossings and the somber reminder of a river's full strength as two hikers tried to cross the Wapama Falls Bridge in Yosemite June 29 in Yosemite.  Here is some video from the Wapama Falls Trail where the sad incident took place.
