Sea-Level Rise as a Four-Letter Word

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

Ezra Klein, filling in for Rachel Maddow, last night covered this bizarre and sad story out of Virginia, where some in the state legislature are complaining because scientists are using such incendiary terms as "climate change" and "sea-level rise." These sensitive politicians prefer the term "recurring flooding."

It's the type of squabbling that makes your head hurt. Unfortunately, the planet's climate does not care about politicians and their particulars with semantics. Bear in mind this is the same state where some scientists fear Virginia Beach will lose its beach in a mere 50 years
