12 Sierra Club Bloggers to Watch in 2013: Part I
At the Sierra Club, we can't thank our members and
supporters enough for helping us achieve so many accomplishments in 2012 and making green resolutions for the new year. Here's one
more way you can stay connected in 2013 -- follow some of our experts, leaders,
and professionals on the blogs. Below are a few bloggers to keep an eye on in the new
year as we continue to explore, enjoy, and protect the planet.
Michael Brune
Executive Director
Michael Brune became the Sierra Club Executive Director in
early 2010 after serving in that position for seven years at Rainforest Action
Network. By confronting corporations and working with lawmakers, he works
tirelessly to help the U.S. move beyond dirty fossil fuels and combat climate
disruption. This global crisis hit home for Michael when Superstorm Sandy
rocked his childhood hometown on the Jersey Shore last October. One of his
priorities for 2013 is to help restore American democracy in order to more
effectively fight against the climate crisis.
Michael blogs weekly on his very own Sierra Club blog, Coming
Clean, which is also cross-posted on his Huffington
Post column. He’s also an avid tweeter.
Allison Chin
President, Board of Directors
2012 was a big year for Allison. In May, she was named
president of the Sierra Club’s board of directors after being a life-time
member of the Sierra Club, a longtime environmental activist, and a previous
Sierra Club treasurer and president from 2008-2010. She led crowds of activists
in rallies across the nation against fracking, the Keystone XL pipeline, and
secrecy in trade pacts; traveled extensively during the election season to help
elect environmental champions, and much, much more. She’s hoping to see more
diversity and cooperative partnerships in the environmental movement in 2013.
Allison’s personal Sierra Club blog is called Power
to Change.
Sarah Hodgdon
National Program Director
Sarah loves profiling hard-working activists in the environmental movement around the nation covering everything from public lands, moving beyond coal, securing environmental justice, and much more.
Sarah writes a weekly column, which is posted on TreeHugger.
Mary Anne Hitt
Director, Beyond Coal Campaign
Mary Anne is a regular contributor to Sierra Club’s Compass blog, Grist, Huffington Post, and DailyKos. She’s an active tweeter as well.
