On All Hallows’ Eve, the Land of Enchantment got spooky when Sierra Club Beyond Coal activists organized a Halloween-themed “Coal is Scary” family event in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Dozens of local moms, dads, and kids lined Coal Avenue (actual street name), demanding protection from toxic mercury pollution emitted by New Mexico’s gargantuan Four Corners and San Juan Generating Station coal-fired power plants.
Our activists wore fantastic costumes and drew many supportive honks and waves from passers-by.
