Washing Without Water

Washing_machine_3890370_thumbnail An almost waterless washing machine could be available to British consumers next year. The University of Leeds announced Monday that machines developed by its researchers will use plastic chips and a cup of water to remove dirt from clothes. The process will leave clothes clean and dry, eliminating the need for a dryer and requiring less than two percent of the water and energy used by standard washing machines. Xeros Ltd. will market the technology for consumers.
