Put Green Ideas into Action
Are you passionate about creating a neighborhood eco-revolution? Do you have a brilliant plan to make your community a cleaner, greener place? The Green Effect wants to hear it -- and give you $20,000 to make it happen.
National Geographic and SunChips teamed up to launch the Green Effect, a national contest soliciting proposals to spread the green movement across the country. Sample ideas include building a community vegetable garden or distributing nature-enhancing toolkits to school kids. Submit your idea, along with photos or video if you like, by June 8 for a chance to win the money, be featured in National Geographic, and get a trip to Washington, D.C. to share your plan with environmental leaders.
The contest opens today and the 10 finalists will be announced on July 7. An online panel will judge the entries and the top five groups or individuals will each be awarded $20,000 to make their green dream a reality.
