The Country’s Best Farmers' Markets

Farmersmarket_tomatoes Labor Day weekend is a perfect opportunity to check out your local farmers' market for barbecue and picnic supplies. And if you live in Davis, California, you can shop at the country’s best market.

Yes, the rankings are in and the Davis Farmers Market took the top spot in the American Farmland Trust’s 2009 poll. Other winners included the Williamsburg Farmers Market in Virginia, and the Collingswood Farmers' Market in New Jersey. With close to 30,000 votes cast and 857 participating farmers' markets, it’s clear that support for fresh, local food is as strong as ever.
