Save Energy with Crock-Pots and Pressure Cookers

Crockpot In the spirit of all the cooking tips we provided this week, here's one more: Crocks-pots and pressure cookers have been around for a long time, but they're making a comeback thanks to their energy-saving abilities. Crock-pots cook meals slowly at low heat, so you can make a meal while you sleep at night or while you’re at work during the day; they’re great for hands-off cooks.

Pressure cookers are used over the stove and can cut cooking times in half. They take a careful eye, but work well for cooking beans and other dishes that can take a long time using other means.

Share your tips: how do you save energy while cooking?
