Coal-Hearted: Environmental groups including the Sierra Club are threatening to sue coal company Massey Energy for allegedly breaking pollution laws more than 12,000 times, even after paying a $20 million EPA fine. Sierra Club and Yahoo! News

The Sierra Nevadas are more than twice as old as previously thought, according to new research. The discovery that they are 50 million (rather than 20 million) years old, was made by researchers at Yale and UC Berkeley. UPI

Reversing that Sinking Feeling:
The Ady Gil – the anti-whaling boat on the TV show Whale Wars which was sunk by a Japanese whaling vessel last week – will be replaced, says Ady Gil, the boat’s namesake and benefactor. He held a fundraiser over the weekend in an attempt to raise the needed money. Los Angeles Times and Ecorazzi

America’s biggest and most influential farm group, AFBF, is poised to battle the climate bill as it heads to the Senate, calling supporters of the proposed legislation "extremists." Reuters

Holy Reprimand: Pope Benedict XVI, sometimes called the “green pope,” admonished world leaders today for failing to procure a new climate-change treaty during last month’s talks in Copenhagen. NPR
