Cross-Party Campaign: Climate-change legislation will be introduced on the Senate floor on April 26. John Kerry (D-Mass.), Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), and Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) are championing its passage and campaigning to get those crucial 60 votes. Green Inc (NYT)

Hot and Cold:
Experts say that Iceland’s Eyjafjallajokull volcano could make northern Europe’s weather smoggier and cooler, since its plume contains much sulfur, which can become an aerosol that reflects sunlight. New York Times

Stymieing Progress:
Oil companies and tea-party activists are fighting hard to get an initiative on California’s November ballot to delay the state’s new law to enforce greenhouse-gas reductions. Los Angeles Times

Coal to the Curb:
Colorado’s governor, Bill Ritter, Jr., signed a bill to improve his state’s air quality by converting coal-fired power plants to cleaner energy sources. Sierra Club

Be A Star: The EPA announced stricter guidelines for homes to earn the Energy Star label. Qualifying houses, starting in 2011, must include a complete thermal-enclosure system, high-efficiency heating and cooling, a complete water-management system, and efficient lighting and appliances. EPA
