Tips for Bike Lovers: Write a Bike-ku and Win

Writing and smoking while riding a bike is NOT recommended. Cycling is a great way to stay fit while reducing your dependence on fossil fuels. Since May is National Bike Month, this week's tips will help you get more enjoyment from your two-wheeled wonder.

Tip #4: Express Yourself

Write a haiku that celebrates the bicycle and you could win a new Breezer Uptown 8 bike. To enter the Sierra Club's Bike-ku Contest, post your original haiku (a poem in three lines of five, seven, and five syllables each) and a photo to the Bike Group on the Climate Crossroads website. Oregon congressman Earl Blumenauer will choose the winner from a group of finalists selected by Sierra Club staff.

Tell us: What inspires you to write poetry?
