The Bag Monster Gets the Governator

plastic bag.jpg Andy Keller dresses up 500 plastic bags and rides a three-wheeler from town to town. He's known as the Bag Monster. Naturally, he's teaming up with Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Keller's environmental message is simple: No more plastic bags. The evidence of their rampant overuse can be seen billowing through your neighborhood on a windy day, lodged in sewer grates, or choking a cow to death. The 500 bags in Keller's getup represent the number used every year by the average American consumer.

This summer, a bit of refreshing legislature was shot down — AB 1998 aimed to ban plastic bags in California (a state which uses 19 billion of them per year). Though other countries (and a few California cities, including San Francisco and L.A.) have beaten the state to the punch, Keller's efforts continue. He got a big bump from the Governator, who just spoke on Keller's behalf.

We hope the Bag Monster-Schwarzenegger partnership will help batlle the plastic bags. Or at least make for the most surreal buddy-cop film ever made.
