you neglect to mention that getting the container to the u.s. is only the begining. it still has to travel the 2000 miles or so to be processed at whatever factory it was intended for. therefore, the trip across the ocean in the container is in addition to and not in comparison with the trucking across the u.s.
secondly, you do not mention the enviornmental consequences of manufacturing a bamboo panel which is far more intense than sawing domestic lumber.
