Blue + Green = New Leadership

The week before Election Day, Club Executive Director Carl Pope, in orange sweater above, and Steelworkers President Leo Gerard, left, barnstormed from Minneapolis to Philadelphia on behalf of candidates promoting clean energy and strong environmental protection. Here, they're joined by Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell, rear center, and a crowd of young clean energy advocates in Philadelphia.

Carl and Leo's trip started in Minnesota in a UAW union hall, where they were joined by the mayors of Minneapolis and St. Paul, R.T. Rybak and Chris Coleman.

While in Minneapolis, they joined Al Franken in the studio for an Air America broadcast. Carl certainly got a kick out of Franken.

And here they are in windy Phillly again, with a group of Steelworkers. Carl and Leo also visited Cleveland and Columbus, Ohio, as well as Pittsburgh. [photos by Andy Betts]
